Plot | Cast | Goofs | Synopsis

La moglie e la figlia di Frank Valera ( Antonio Banderas ), Sue ( Cristina Serafini ) e Olivia, vengono uccise poco dopo un talent show, in cui Olivia canta una canzone per Frank, e i loro corpi vengono scaricati in un buco nei pressi del cantiere ferroviario.  Prima dell'omicidio, Sue ha mandato un video della performance di Olivia a Frank.  Dopo il funerale, il suocero di Frank, Chuck ( Robert Forster ) lo affronta, gli dice di non parlargli più.  Frank visita la stazione di polizia per discutere degli omicidi e il detective Lustiger ( Johnathan Schaech ) gli dice che la polizia ha trovato una fibra d'oro nella scena del delitto.  Lustiger sospetta che gli assassini appartengano alla mafia russa , che opera nell'area del crimine. <br>Dopo essersi sottoposto a percosse in un incrocio di arti marziali miste per espiare i suoi sensi di colpa per gli omicidi, Frank viene salvato dal poliziotto metropolitano Hank Strode ( Karl Urban ), che Frank incontrò in precedenza alla stazione.  Tuttavia, quando Strode informa Frank che il caso della sua famiglia è diventato "freddo", Frank lascia, sgomento e depresso, poi, dopo essere stato aggredito e ferito a una gamba, Frank cade attraverso una finestra di un negozio di libri, dove afferra Marco Aurelio Meditazioni per aiutare a fermare l'emorragia Frank legge parti del libro e cambia il suo atteggiamento su cosa dovrebbe fare dopo e come dovrebbe procedere.Dopo un suggerimento nel libro, decide di prendere un voto di silenzio Stoic fino a che il caso non sia risolto Quindi si propone di apprendere le abilità di combattimento e diventare più in forma. <br>Dopo aver appreso le abilità di combattimento, Frank va nel cortile del treno, dove è avvenuto il crimine, per indagare.  Incontra teppisti russi e li sconfigge, anche se è ferito nel processo.  Un'infermiera, ( Paz Vega ), arriva e lo porta a casa sua per curare le sue ferite.  Il giorno dopo, Frank torna a casa sua.  Lungo la strada, adotta un cane precedentemente di proprietà dei suoi aggressori.  Più tardi, Alma si avvicina per restituire il suo portafoglio, che ha lasciato al suo posto.  Alma viene a sapere della morte della sua famiglia e del cortile, e lei gli fa amicizia. <br>Frank tenta di trovare il potenziale testimone che vive in un rifugio di fortuna, ma lo perde.  Mentre conduce a casa Alma più tardi, rivela che il rifugio che Frank ha indagato è la casa di un uomo chiamato "Mr.  Brividi "(Clint Dyer), che lavora come cuoco al ristorante locale.  Dopo aver fatto fuori Alma, i membri delle bande russe appaiono e chiedono ad Alma se continuerà a rifornirli di droga.  Frank appare improvvisamente e li rende incapaci.  Spiega che ha lavorato con loro per un anno, rubando loro farmaci dall'ospedale.  Frank la porta a casa sua per la sua sicurezza. <br>Frank trova Mr. Shivers in un ristorante;  loro litigano.  Frank mostra la sua foto di famiglia a Brividi, che ha assistito agli omicidi del suo rifugio.  I brividi dicono che un agente di polizia ha commesso gli omicidi.  Frank poi si intrufola nella stazione di polizia e scopre che Hank Strode era l'ufficiale di polizia in servizio nella notte degli omicidi. <br>Dopo diversi giorni passati a seguire Strode, Frank entra nella casa di Strode e trova fibre d'oro sciolte su un'uniforme della polizia.  Frank trova anche una borsa che contiene riviste con Frank, in copertina, articoli di notizie sull'omicidio della figlia dodicenne di Strode e la difesa legale di Frank del sospettato, che è stato liberato per un cavillo.  Strode voleva che Frank soffrisse per aver liberato il sospetto, e voleva che Frank sapesse cosa provava Strode.  Frank lascia un biglietto per Strode, dicendo che si incontrerà in un magazzino.  Quando arriva Strode, ne segue uno scontro, lasciando entrambi feriti.  Frank supera il suo desiderio di ucciderlo, ricordando la citazione di Aurelio, "La migliore vendetta deve essere diversa dal tuo nemico", e poi bussa fuori Strode. <br>Più tardi, dopo il processo e la condanna di Strode, Frank e Alma visitano le tombe di sua moglie e sua figlia. <br>

He is supposedly speaking and yet his lips aren't moving. <br>------------------------<br><br>When Frank is behind holding a circular "NO STOPPING" sign (red cross on blue). This sign is only found in Europe and Russia. In the US, stopping is only allowed in order to obey a traffic sign, signal, traffic agent, police officer, or to avoid conflicts with other vehicles. These are the most restrictive of the parking signs. They are typically red on white. <br>------------------------<br><br>(at 00:54:37), you clearly see that AMBULANCE 03. The number 03 is in Russia. In the US, 911 is. <br>------------------------<br><br>Despite the film being set in the United States, it was clearly not filmed there.<br><br>This is most obvious when they show the vegetation, the background scenery and especially the buildings. Many of the doors and windows are not what could be used legally in United States. In addition, when the protagonist is shown down in a local rail yard, the tracks are not the type used in North America. <br>------------------------<br><br>While the film is supposedly set in the US, the freight cars in the rail yard near the warehouse are European, with single-axle bogies, rounded roofs, and buffers at their ends. <br>------------------------<br><br>Glaring spelling mistake. When Frank is narrating the backstory near the beginning of the film, the camera shows a theater sign proudly boasting a "JUNIOR TALLENT SHOW." The correct spelling should have been "TALENT." <br>------------------------<br><br>The newspaper articles are in Latin, filled with automated filler text. <br>------------------------<br><br>On the card 'Come Celebrate the Life of' which Frank shows to Alma it says 'Monday, November 8, 2016, 2PM', which is incorrect. On the tombstone, in the end of the movie, it shows the correct date on which they died: Monday, November 7th, 2016.Apart from the fact that the date on the card is wrong, even if it would have said Tuesday November 8, that could have never been true. The funeral ceremony can't be on the same day or the day after people died. Especially not if people died in a murder. <br>------------------------<br><br>The chapter titles are taken from Marcus Aurelius's book "Meditations" (plural). The chapter cards read "Meditation" (singular). <br>------------------------<br><br>The protagonist is shown to be a wealthy attorney. However, despite this he never seems to consider hiring a private detective to look into the murder of his wife and child. And no reason is given for this. <br>------------------------<br><br>When Frank gets shot by one of the carjackers, the wound is on his left side below his rib cage. When Nurse Sheila comes to visit him to change the bandage on his gunshot wound, it is now on his right side at the same level below his rib cage. <br>------------------------<br><br>In the struggle with the 4 gang members for his car keys and wallet the drives side window of his car get broken with a retractable baton but shortly after when it shows the driver side of the vehicle the car window is not broken anymore. <br>------------------------<br><br>
