Una giovane coppia a causa dei problemi economici si reca a Las Vegas per tentare la sorte al gioco. Ma ancora una volta la fortuna non li assiste. Viene loro in soccorso un affascinante miliardario che propone un patto sorprendente: in cambio di una notte d'amore con la giovane sposa corrisponderà ai due un milione di dollari. L'offerta turba il loro ménage. Infine e non senza sofferenze i due accettano. Le conseguenze saranno devastanti. Il marito non accetterà più di vivere con la donna che lo ha tradito per amor suo e rifiuterà il denaro. Ma il lieto fine è inevitabile. Film di grande successo proprio a causa dell'ipocrisia che dispensa sapientemente al pubblico. Una trama invereconda che solo per la presenza discreta di Redford appare meno insulsa di quanto non sia. Incredibile la supposizione che il laido Woody Harrelson possa competere con il pur attempato divo. Una barzelletta dilatata ad arte per la pruderie di un pubblico in vena di finte trasgressioni.

In their kitchen, when they are fighting, scene switches from him to her and back to him. When back to him, the overhead mike is clearly visible. <br>------------------------<br><br>When bidding at the auction David offers "1 million dollars" for the hippopotamus. This is not possible since his lawyer stated earlier the fee he would receive for the proposal, which would have been deducted from the million David received for the proposal. Therefore David didn't have 1 million dollars to bid. <br>------------------------<br><br>When Diana won John Gage a million dollars from the craps table game why didn't they ask John for a percentage to pay off all their debts? <br>------------------------<br><br>After David and Diana won so much money playing craps, why would they switch to roulette the next day? <br>------------------------<br><br>When playing pool, the cue ball is pocketed but they continue playing. <br>------------------------<br><br>Rain disappears quickly at the end when Diana gets out of Gage's car. <br>------------------------<br><br>When John ('Robert Redford') first sees Diana (Demi Moore) he has on a white shirt, but the next time he sees her he is sitting at the blackjack table and has a checked shirt on. <br>------------------------<br><br>David has shaved the right side of his face removing the shaving cream but when he comforts her he still has the shaving cream all over his face. <br>------------------------<br><br>When seen from behind, there is no message on the back of the photo. When David turns it around, the message appears. <br>------------------------<br><br>After Gage leaves the room where he has just signed the agreement with Murphy's attorney, he buttons his suit coat twice. <br>------------------------<br><br>When Gage sits at the gambling table with Diana, his chips are in front of him at #12. He slides the chips over to Diana who is sitting in front of #11. When the camera pans back, the chips are still at #12 in front of Gage. <br>------------------------<br><br>The underwear on the stove. <br>------------------------<br><br>When David uses a Gryphon match to light the stove, the camera and two crew members are reflected in the kettle. <br>------------------------<br><br>Yellow device used to make David's dog lick his face is visible. <br>------------------------<br><br>The helicopter that Gage and Diana take off in is supposed to be at the Las Vegas Hilton, But you can clearly see the Lady Luck Casino next door to where it leaves from. The Lady Luck is downtown Las Vegas no where near the Hilton. <br>------------------------<br><br>The 'coffee' David pours himself from the espresso maker is water. <br>------------------------<br><br>
