Doug Quaid è un operaio della Colonia, che ogni giorno viaggia attraverso il nucleo della terra verso l'Unione Federale Britannica, dove collabora alla costruzione degli automi che riempiono le fila della polizia federale. Di notte, invece, gli incubi non gli danno tregua. Per questo, nonostante la vicinanza della bella moglie e l'amicizia di qualche collega, una sera Doug si convince di aver bisogno di qualcosa di più e di meglio e si presenta nella sede della Rekall, azienda che impianta ricordi fittizi. Vorrebbe farsi "un viaggio" da spia, ma qualcosa va storto perché risulta possedere già dei ricordi da spia, che combaciano con i suoi incubi. È la sua vita quotidiana, allora, che gli appare improvvisamente come falsa e pericolosa. Remake del film di Verhoeven con Arnold Schwarzenegger che fece epoca al momento dell'uscita, l'Atto di Forza di Wiseman si allontana ancora di più dal racconto di Philip Dick che diede lo spunto all'originale (We Can Remember It For You Wholesale) e si configura piuttosto come un epigono della trilogia di Jason Bourne, a metà tra thriller psicologico e action che si avvia e si esaurisce nell'unico movimento dell'inseguimento. Se il primo tempo lascia ben sperare e non è privo di qualche buona idea riguardo all'architettura del mondo futuristico immaginato, questa speranza si disintegra presto contro un muro di ovvietà, la fantasia si spegne dentro un'indigestione di computer graphica e non si conta più un'idea originale che sia una (meno che mai nella rappresentazione della Resistenza). Colin Farrell non è senza perché, credibile tanto nella caratterizzazione sociale che in quell'aspirare ad un trasgressivo superamento del confine stabilito, in virtù di ruoli precedentemente interpretati e attraversati dalla stessa inquietudine, ma non basta certo a tenere in piedi un film troppo povero, che spreca imperdonabilmente un budget troppo ricco. La tematica del falso ricordo e dell'impossibilità di discernere tra illusione e verità, che in Dick è sinonimo tanto di paranoia quanto di pietà, perché metafora della condizione umana nel suo tragico complesso, qui non è che un espediente narrativo che si consuma in fretta, senza mai sfiorare la mente né il cuore dello spettatore.

They are visible in wide shots, however the black clothing can be seen on close-ups on the robots standing next to Melina.<br><br>--------<br><br><br>Errors in geography<br>_________<br>In the beginning of the film, Australia's antipode point is shown as being in Britain, while in fact all Australia's antipodal points lie squarely in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.<br><br>--------<br><br><br>Factual errors<br>_________<br>If The Fall is free-falling and assuming no resistance, the occupants would be weightless for the entire trip. However people were shown in normal gravity except for the midpoint flip. If the ship accelerated towards the core and then decelerated to a stop on the other side, one would be flipped three times and experience gravity for most of the trip excepting the start-point roll, midpoint flip and destination roll. At 1-G the trip would take a lot more than the 17 minutes as suggested in the movie. Australia is not precisely opposite Great Britain.<br><br>--------<br>For The Fall to travel the diameter of the Earth in 17 minutes, it would have to maintain an average speed of over 45000 kph (28000 mph). At this speed, it would be impossible for anyone to survive standing on the outside, because of both the airflow and the high temperatures resulting from friction.<br><br>--------<br><br><br>Plot holes<br>_________<br>When Carl leaves the rebel base in the waste lands he is wearing a respirator, but he enters the "helicoper" without passing through an air lock. Thus he would be exposed to what ever the respirator was meant to protect him against.<br><br>--------<br>Quaid did not know Melina's name even on his dream, but when Cohaagen is explaining how his plan got succeed, Quaid's says to Melina that he is sorry, even before that in any part of the movie her name was told.<br><br>--------<br><br><br>Revealing mistakes<br>_________<br>To travel 8,000 miles in 17 minutes the Fall has to have an average speed of 28,235 mph. At those speeds the ship would have to be traveling in a vacuum or the Fall would burn up with the friction of the air.<br><br>--------<br>At the very beginning of the movie, Melina falls down a shaft, she moves as if she is attached to cables and not free falling.<br><br>--------<br>When Quaid and Melina travel to meet the Resistance in the ruins of London, they use the London Underground. However, the train they use is clearly a Toronto subway train, of a completely different design to anything used to anything on the London Underground, with London Underground stickers and posters on it. Likewise, the station they use is clearly not one in London.<br><br>--------<br>During the zero gravity scene the empty cases ejected from quaid's weapon are clearly blank rounds.<br><br>--------<br>When Quaid is opening his passport inside First Bank's vault, at the bottom of the page "Reed Henry" is mistakenly written "Reed Henty".<br><br>--------<br>The Arabic language written on the top left side of the passports, make no sense. They are single random letters, while in Arabic words are mostly written attached together. Same goes for the Persian language.<br><br>--------<br>On the TV news broadcast about 11-13 minutes in, the weather forecast is erroneously spelled "Weather FORCAST". This occurs in a couple of different scenes.<br><br>--------<br><br><br><br>Spoilers<br>_________<br><br><br>The goof below may give away important plot points.<br><br><br><br><br><br>Continuity<br>In "The Fall" when Quaid flies in with a helicopter, he enters a room where he sets the explosives. Right before he enters that room, you can see from the window behind him that "The Fall" is moving. However, the release of it is shown after Quaid enters the room.<br><br>--------<br><br><br><br><br>
